Bacon-Wrapped Date & Macadamia Nuggets

Looking for an easy appetizer with wow-factor for your next get-together? These bacon-wrapped date and macadamia nuts appetizers are a cinch to make, tasty, and more nutritious than your average chips and dip. They’re the perfect combination of sweet, savory and crunchy. Serve them to guests and you’re sure to get plenty of oohs and aahs.


  • 6 bacon slices, cut into thirds (do not use thick-sliced bacon)
  • 18 whole dates
  • 18 - 36 Royal Hawaiian Orchards macadamia nuts (Natural, Sea Salt or Hawaiian BBQ), about 1/2 cup.


  1. Heat your oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Slice halfway through each date, remove the pit, creating a pocket. Fill the pocket with 1 to 1-1/2 macadamia nuts. Close the pocket to fully encase the macadamia nuts in the dried fruit.
  3. Wrap each macadamia nut-stuffed date in 1/3 slice of raw bacon, securing the end with a toothpick.
  4. Place each piece of bacon-wrapped date and nuts on a baking sheet. Bake for 6 - 10 minutes. Remove from the oven, flip each piece and continue baking another 2 – 4 minutes until bacon is nicely browned on both sides. Allow to cool for a couple minutes before serving.

These tasty nugget appetizers are also delicious when dried apricots or prunes are substituted in place of the dates. Not only will this add color – dried apricots and prunes contain antioxidants called polyphenols, which are said to reduce oxidative stress in your body.
