What Are GMOs?
GMOs (or “genetically modified organisms”) are organisms whose genetic material has been artificially manipulated in a laboratory through genetic engineering, or GE. This relatively new science creates unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and viral genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods.
Currently, 64 countries around the world require labeling of genetically modified foods. Unlike most other developed countries – such as 28 nations in the European Union, Japan, Australia, Brazil, Russia and even China – the U.S. has no laws requiring labeling of genetically modified foods.
At Royal Hawaiian Orchards, we strive to source quality ingredients and provide our loyal consumers with products they can trust. That’s why we have partnered with the Non-GMO project and stand behind their efforts to allow consumers to make an informed choice.

The Royal Hawaiian story spans decades of macadamia growing, beginning in 1948 with the founding of the Royal Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Company. Though our look has evolved over the years (this can dates back to the late 1960s!), our dedication to health, wellness, and “living Aloha” live on to this day.
